The Child Language Research Group of the Phonetics Department of ELTE and the Society of Hungarian Linguistics are delighted to announce a 1-day workshop on
(Dis)fluency in children’s speech
The workshop will be organized as an additional special day of DISS2019. Project no. K-120234 has been implemented with the support provided from the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund of Hungary, financed under the K_16 funding scheme. The event is endorsed by SIG-CHILD.

Call for papers:
The workshop provides a platform for academics, researchers, and speech therapists to present their papers and to share their ideas, experiences and research results with each other on the topic of the speech of children and adolescents. Fluency of speech is considered in its widest meaning. Papers are welcome in the topics of disfluencies, self-corrections in speech, speech rate, pausing and other characteristic features influencing the perception of fluency (accuracy of articulation, word retrieval, sentence construction, etc.). All these factors might be examined in monolingual-, bilingual- and atypical speech.
We invite you to submit original papers in any related area, including but not limited to:
• Characteristics of disfluency in children’s spontaneous speech
• Characteristics of disfluency in adolescents’ spontaneous speech
• Production and perception of speech errors, repairs and hesitations in children’s speech
• Neurocognitive correlates of speech disfluency in childhood
• Comparison of usual disfluencies with those occurring in disordered speech
• Prosody of spontaneous speech
• Linguistic analyses on children’s spontaneous speech
• Word retrieval in children’s speech
• Further related topics from any other area of linguistics and psycholinguistics
We would welcome submissions of anonymized 2-page abstracts (including tables and references) for oral and poster presentations by June 1, 2019 June 06, 2019, for review.
Authors of accepted presentations can submit full papers (max. 6,000 words) for publication in a specially edited volume or in the journal The Phonetician. The deadline for the submissions of full-length papers is September 10, 2019.
